Feeling nervous when approaching employers is normal. Take that first step, introduce yourself, and let the conversation develop naturally.

Keep your CV updated and accessible. An unexpected opportunity can arise at any time, and being prepared allows you to act quickly.

Prepare a short and natural introduction about who you are, your experience, and what you’re looking for. You never know when you might meet your next employer.

Don’t always wait for the right opportunity to find you. Attend events, meet people, make connections, and take actions that could open new doors.

Connect and collaborate with people who share your interests and goals. The right collaboration can sometimes develop into a business partnership or even a co-founder relationship.

Consider training or professional development when it can help you gain new skills and move closer to your career goals.

Work on yourself, recognise the skills you already have, and identify areas where upskilling or reskilling could help you grow.

Practise speaking out loud about a topic that interests you. Expressing your thoughts regularly can help improve your communication skills and build confidence.

Keep your head up, believe in yourself, and use eye contact. The way you present yourself can make a difference when connecting with others.
